About the Play:

One four-letter word is about to rock 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. When the President unwittingly spins a PR nightmare into a global crisis, the seven brilliant and beleaguered women he relies upon most risk life, liberty, and the pursuit of sanity to keep the commander-in-chief out of trouble.

Character Breakdown: These women are not just crass to be crass or just funny to be funny. They’re living and experiencing this chaos authentically and together as a unit. There are no secondary characters.

HARRIET – His Chief of Staff. Right-Hand Woman. Huge boss energy.

JEAN – His Press Secretary. Always cleaning up his messes. Love-hates Bernadette. Scripted kiss with Bernadette.

STEPHANIE – His Secretary. Timorous; trying hard to be a fearless girl-boss but falling incredibly short. Scripted to lick Harriet’s cheek. Scripted to spend a portion of the play in unflattering underwear and bra. Scripted vomiting off stage (noise only).

DUSTY – His Mistress. Daring and confident. Carrying POTUS’ baby. Scripted to provocatively dance and to wear revealing clothing during a scene. Scripted to vomit on stage.

BERNADETTE – His Sister. Masculine lesbian. A crass drug dealer trying to get a pardon from her brother. In love with Jean. Scripted kiss with Jean and with Chris.

CHRIS – A Journalist. Single mom. Annoyed at being undermined by a new, young, male journalist. A strong, determined woman who doesn’t let anything stand in her way. Scripted to use a breast pump on stage. Scripted kiss with Bernadette. **MUST BE PLAYED BY A BLACK ACTOR**

MARGARET – The First Lady. At her wits end with her husband and his antics. Trying her hardest to fight double-standards and to stay out of the shadow of her husband.  **MUST BE PLAYED BY A BLACK ACTOR**

Trigger Warning: This show contains adult language, situations and themes. There are scenes containing drug and alcohol use, stage combat, intimacy, and other adult situations that some may find too intense, uncomfortable, or offensive.

Self-Tape Notes: Prepare a 1-minute comedic monologue that best showcases your acting and comedic ability. Your video should be no more than 90 seconds in length. If your video is too large to upload, please trim to <90 seconds and/or compress to less than 100 MB. YouTube links, other methods of video delivery or videos from previous productions will NOT be accepted. Submissions without correct file uploads will not be considered.

If you have any questions, please contact Nancy Andrade at  director@miamiactingco.org.
